About Us
Hi there, we are the Mortimer family (Christine, Wattie, Jasmine and Caitlyn). We took over ownership of Elite Cat Boarding in April 2024, having spent the previous few years living up in St Arnaud. We have two teenage daughters who are totally hands-on and spend a lot of time helping out with the cattery - your cats will never be short of cuddles and attention! Wattie, my husband, is the local Fire Chief at Wakefield and also works full time for Fire and Emergency looking after all the Fire Stations around Marlborough, Tasman and the West Coast. The months have flown by as we have made many changes and upgrades to our facilities. Check out our Facebook page where I post the latest photos.
Our Facilities
Located in a tranquil rural setting, our facilities provide a safe and relaxing stay for your treasured pet. We take security very seriously; our electronic door entry system does not allow the inner door to open if the outer door is also open - there will be no escapees! We have motion sensor security lighting with cameras incase we have any unwelcome visitors. This records direct to our phones so we can see what is going on 24/7. We also have monitored fire alarms throughout both buildings.
As well as ensuring your pets are secure and safe, we take extra care to understand them and get to know their individual needs. Plenty of individual attention and cuddles are given to all cats, and comfortable ‘hidey-hole beds’ are provided for those who perhaps are a bit more timid.
All cats are housed separately (apart from those from the same family) within our two cattery buildings. The first houses 26 enclosures. 15 of these have been extended, providing three metres of individual outdoor space, fitted out with platforms and hidey holes. The remaining 11 enclosures have a much smaller outdoor patio however they also take turns in one of our large outdoor enclosures so that they all get plenty of sunshine and play areas. We are constantly upgrading our facilities - all enclosures now have cat doors allowing them access to their outside area whenever they choose. We have also installed lockable cat doors between a few of the enclosures to allow multiple cat families to enjoy double enclosures, or to give a single cat more space. One enclosure has its own exclusive access to an outside area with additional platforms and play areas.
The second building contains 6 larger indoor/ outdoor apartment units. These apartments are prioritised for cat families where there are multiple cats or long stay boarders. They contain a variety of furniture to relax on and toys plus all day direct access to their own outdoor enclosure complete with platforms and ladders.
Prior to your cat arriving, I set up the enclosure to suit and this can be quite flexible - whether it be low furniture for an elderly feline, or plenty to keep a young kitten entertained. If your cat has special needs please feel free to discuss them with me.

We stock a variety of brands but normally feed Purina One or Whiskas dry food and Whiskas or Chef wet food. Feel free to bring your cat food from home, although there is no discount for this.
